Warning: A Thief in My House

Today my husband, Mike had a day off from work.  He had to run out and do a few errands but he couldn't find his wallet.  Mike looked everywhere.  It wasn't on the night table or at his desk.  He tore apart the sofa, between the cushions and even tipped it over to check underneath.  He rifled through all of the dirty laundry (gross).  Then out to his car...and still nothing.  I checked the credit card sites on line and saw that there was no new activity.  Mike called the places he visited yesterday to see if there was any sign of his wallet.  He even started looking at our kids suspiciously.  Well, we each had our things to do out of the house.  So Mike just left without it and hoped he wouldn't need any identification or credit cards during the day.  When I got back home early this evening Mike still hadn't found it and I know he was thinking he was losing his mind.  Then Frankie, my miniature dachshund, came up to me for some kisses and a light bulb went off...I asked Mike if he looked under the bed.  I've noticed recently that Frankie has been hoarding things under there.  I've found stray socks, stuffed animals, lizard carcasses and his toys under the bed.  Mike got down on the floor to look and there it was - with a few teeth marks, but otherwise intact.

I'm hoping something good will come of today's ordeal, like maybe everyone will remember to put away their things.  I think it is doubtful.  But we all shared a great laugh and I think that is even more important.
